🌱7 Signs Your Root Chakra Is Blocked (And How to Heal It)

Updated: Sep 20

🌿 Introduction

Your Root Chakra, Muladhara, मूलाधार चक्र (Mūlādhāra Cakra) is the foundation of your entire energy system.

  • The first (root) lotus is said to be four-petaled, located at the Mūlādhāra (base of the spine).

  • Within it resides the firm and steadfast deity Gaṇeśa, remover of all obstacles, who governs this chakra.

Just like a tree needs strong roots to grow tall, you need a strong Root Chakra to feel safe, supported, and grounded.

But what happens when your Root Chakra is blocked?

In this post, we’ll explore the most common signs of Root Chakra imbalance — and share simple, soulful ways to heal and restore balance.

🌱 What Is the Root Chakra?

🌸 Symbolic Features of Mūlādhāra Chakra (as per yogic texts):

  • Location: Base of the spine, pelvic floor

  • Lotus: Four crimson petals

  • Bīja Mantra: लं (Laṁ)

  • Element (Tattva): पृथ्वी (Pṛthvī – Earth)

  • Presiding Deity: श्री गणेश (Śrī Gaṇeśa)

  • Energy (Shakti): Kūṇḍalinī Śakti lies dormant here, coiled three and a half times around the self-luminous liṅga

  • Animal Symbol: Elephant (strength and stability)

When balanced, the Root Chakra helps you feel safe in your body and secure in the world.
